I am 15 years old and just signed my dad up for the list

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Denis,
I just wanted to thank you and let you know how much I appriciate your willingness to keep the wow quote list going.  I am 15 years old and just signed my dad up for the list.  About nine months ago he moved out of the house and has just gotten the internet at his work.  So I signed him up and the first quote was the one that you shared your story with all of us. That day after he had comfirmed everything and got the message, he e-mailed me and told me, “You really know how to hit a guy hard though with today’s quote being the first one I get.”  I am hoping that through the list he might regain the feeling of the spirit and realize what he is doing to his family.  I just thought you might like to know how much of an impact your willingness has had on my life and hopefully will have on my father’s life.
Thanks for you time,
Jennifer

The church is so small out here.

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Dear Denis, I am a youth that adored what you have set up. I am 17 years old and I am living in Virginia. The church is so small out here. I moved out here to live with my sister who is jewish and your mailing list is the only contact I have with the church from Sunday to Sunday. I was raised in Mesa Arizona. I have been LDS for all of my life. I really miss being surounded with people who love the Lord as I do. Your services are really appreciated and I think you have more young people than you realize.
With love,
Lesa

“Houseless” before age 18

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

I’ve written to you before about how much I really love getting your daily quote.  I wrote to you back in February about how your quotes were helping to cheer me up, cause I had just sent my boyfriend off on a mission.  Well, I just wanted to tell you that today’s quote really hit home with me, too!  A year and a half ago, 6 days before my 18th birthday, my family’s house burned down.  It was what the fire department calls a “total loss.”  But, the Lord’s hand was evident in this disaster, and much good came out of it!!!  But the reason this quote hits hard, is that even though we were “houseless”  and living in a motel room until a more permanent place could be found, the love we have for each other, and need to stick together at such an awful time, brought us closer together, and made those hotel rooms home.

Thank you for your daily quotes.  I love them.  And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!  :)
Sincerely,
Becky

17 Year Old – Thanks

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

My name is Breeann, I  just wanted to let you know just how great an effect your list DOES have on the youth.  I am 17 years old and have been on your mailing list for a few months now.  I also try to send in quotes whenever I get the chance, because I realize that we all need to work together.

Your mailing list has done a wonderful job of touching my heart each & every day.  You help bring the Spirit into my life & make me smile when I’m down or tired.  I have several friends that I e-mail quite regularly – most are 18 and younger.  One of the things I do almost every day is send them a copy of at least one quote – most are from you.  I am working on them to become members of your list and hopefully soon they will get these wonderful thoughts straight from you.  Your quotes and thoughts have lifted may of them is times of need and, more often than you would think, are just the right word at JUST the right moment.

In my Laurel class we had decided to make quote boxes & since on my computer I file ALL of the quotes I got, I thought I should share.  Many of the girls don’t get e-mail, so this was a wonderful way to share you’re uplifting thoughts.  Then a few weeks ago, for a Laurel project, I taught the Beehive class of girls how to make a quote box, and needless to say, the boxes are quite full!  By dong that I was also able to share the thoughts with many leaders, who have all decided to up date there own boxes & make them useful again instead of just sitting in some lost drawer.  Funny as it is, I’ve been kind of thought of now as the “quote lady” and was quite amused when a member of our bishopric told me he was to give a talk & if I had any quotes that might apply!  It wasn’t very surprising to find I had plenty!

I was also able to collect many thought and notes to share with several 12 year old girls at girls camp, while I was their YCL.

I just wanted to let you know, that your hours of effort and work are definitely not being wasted!  You have been able to reach hearts and minds of MANY in times of joy and of sarrow, MANY, MANY of them being youth.  Thank you so very, very much for all that you do.  If there is ever anything at all that I can do to aid you with the list, please just let me know!  The worth of this list is beyond measure for all the good it does in the hearts men.
Thank you so very much!
Breeann

I Love the WOW page!!  I am not active in the church, but trying to find my way back.  I just want you to know that your daily quotes have helped me immensely and I can’t even imagine what you have done for others like me.  I E-Mail your quotes on to my non-member friend and she loves them.  It is truly an inspiration to read your quotes every morning.  I look forward to them each and every day.  Thank you Denis.

Courage to be True to my Convictions

Thursday, June 4th, 1998

Date: Thu, 4 Jun 1998

Thank you for this quote.  As a member of a City Council I have sometimes had to vote in a way that is not popular with the citizens or with fellow council members.  We are currently discussing things that I am not in support of and this quote will help me tonight to remember to have the courage to be true to my convictions.
Thanks!

Look at life more Religiously

Thursday, June 4th, 1998

Date: Thu, 4 Jun 1998

I have written you before.  Each day I read the quote, sometimes it reads into my life, but for a while it hasn’t. I am moving to Colorado with my husband, Active Army, in two weeks.  I have been here in Washington finishing up my Respiratory Therapy degree.  I am scared to leave the only home that I have ever known, my mother and all that is familiar to me.  I have so much fear, and excitement at the same time.  Probably a lot like a Missionary feels before she goes.  I didn’t go on a mission so I am guessing.
Today’s quote read right into my life.  I have been praying to find a way to look at life more religiously.  You have once again aided me. I love that you put out WOW.  It is such a help to so many people.  I hope that it blesses your life as much as it does mine.

We were the reason for the mix up

Monday, April 20th, 1998

Subject: Thank you and we apologize
Dear Denis, First we want to take the time to say thank you for your wonderfully uplifting daily quotes.  We have been receiving these quotes for quite some time and we always look forward to the uplifting thoughts that come to our e-mail daily.  Thank you so very much.
Next, we want to say thank you and we apologize at the same time. Now an explanation is due.  On November 11, 1997, if you recall, there was a mix up in the e-mail service.  A subscriber wrote in and asked where you were.  (If memory serves us right, you didn’t send a daily quote for two or three days because you were busy updating your web site.)  She wrote to ask you what was going on, only she sent her e-mail to the wrong address and three thousand people ended up with the letter. By the end of the day we’d received approximately 150 letters from people that had no idea what was happening. It was a little crazy, but when people caught on to what was going on with their e-mail then some creative souls decided to send their own quotes/stories in and make an unpleasant experience one that became uplifting and enjoyable.  Well, along with that mix up, came some good, for we met many kind and wonderful people that we are still in correspondence with.  There was another thing that happened due to that mix up and this is one that my husband and I will be eternally greatful for (to you and to our Father in Heaven).  On November 11, 1997, due to the mix up, then my husband and I were blessed by finding one another.  He wrote me a small story (thanks to the mix up he was able to obtain my address) and I responded back. The rest is history.  We were married March 9th and we couldn’t be happier.
We have all heard the quote: “The Lord works in mysterious ways” and this is surely one of those times.   We are eternally greatful to you.  When people ask us how we met then we tell them that is was a friend in California that deserves the credit for our blessed union.  We can’t thank you enough.
The apology?  Well, it looks as though we were the reason for the mix up.  Heavenly Father knew that it was the only way we would ever meet since we lived in separate states and so He, in His infinite wisdom, planned that for us.
Thank you Denis.  May Heavenly Father bless you and your family, as He has ours. P/S:  If you want to share our story with the other subscribers then please feel free to do just that.  We only have one request and that is that we please remain anonymous.  Thank you.  :-)
